NTA Announces Final NEET-UG Results, Number of Toppers Drops to 17 from 61

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the re-revised NEET-UG 2024 results on July 26, 2024. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now download their results from the official website, exams.nta.ac.in. To access their scorecards, candidates need their application number, date of birth, and other details.

Supreme Court Directive

The results were recalculates and release following a directive from the Supreme Court. Alongside the results, the NTA has published the final answer keys and the list of the top 100 candidates on their official website.

Significant Drop in Topper Count

In the revised merit list, the number of toppers has significantly reduced from 61 to 17. This change came after the NTA recalculated the results as per the Supreme Court’s instructions. Mridul Manya Anand, from the OBC-NCL category, has emerged as the new all-India topper, replacing Ved S. Shende. Anand, originally ranked third, now holds the top position with a perfect score of 720. Shende’s score was adjust to 715, placing him at rank 25.

Detailed Score Distribution

The updated list shows 17 candidates with a perfect score of 720/720. Additionally, six candidates scored 716, and the remaining top candidates obtained 715 marks. The 17 toppers are from various states: four from Rajasthan, three from Maharashtra, two each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Bihar, Punjab, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Chandigarh.

Cut-Off Marks and Qualifying Criteria

The recalculated results also led to slight changes in the NEET-UG cut-off marks across categories. For the general category, the cut-off range is now 720-162, slightly lower than the previous range of 720-164. For SC/ST/OBC categories, the range adjusts to 161-127 from 163-129. The number of qualifiers in the general category has decreased to 1,165,334 from 1,165,904. However, the number of qualifiers in the OBC and SC categories has slightly increased to 100,876 and 34,420, respectively.

Record Registrations for NEET-UG 2024

This year, the NEET-UG 2024 exam saw a record-high registration of over 24 lakh students, the highest ever. This included around 10 lakh male and over 13 lakh female candidates.

Conclusion

Initially, 67 candidates had achieved a perfect score, but after a re-test for 1,563 candidates who faced issues like incorrect question papers, this number dropped to 61. Five of the six toppers from one affected center opted for the re-test but failed to score 720/720, reducing the number of perfect scorers further.
