ISMPOCON 2024: A Landmark Collaborative Oncology Conference in India

The Indian Society of Indian Society of Medical & Paediatric Oncology, ISMPO, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH), Delhi organized the annual conference on ISMPOCON 2024 on 18th October to 20th October at Indian Habitat Centre Delhi. The conference has achieved a milestone as it collaborated with the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), which was the first event of its kind.

Objectives of ISMPOCON 2024

ISMPOCON gives a platform to increase the scientific research in oncology, promote knowledge exchange and establish educational and research opportunities. The main aim of the conference was to communicate guidelines and standards for the professionals practicies.

 Leadership and Organization

The organizing committee was headed by Dr. Shyam Aggarwal, Chairperson of Medical Oncology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Dr. Anupam Sachdeva, Co-Director of Pediatrics at, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.  The Department of Medical Oncology and Department of Paediatrics of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, is the Organizing Partner for ISMPOCON 2024. For over 70 years, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been dedicated to delivering compensation and excellent healthcare.Chief guests, Dr. D.S.Rana, Chairman SGRT society and Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman SGRH, highlighted the addition of radiotherapy in the hospital to provide comprehensive cancer care 

Conference Highlights

The Conference was registered by 600 delegates in which there were more than 30 international specialists and 300 national experts. Participants get into discussion on  topics in oncology . The theme for ISMPOCON 2024 was “CANCER-GENOMICS-PRECISION,” focusing on areas like artificial intelligence and CAR-T cell therapy. To contribute to the ISMPO’s mission 100 postgraduate students presented their research work. The conference presented different areas of subjects including palliative care, geriatrics, oncobiology, hematology, pathology, nuclear medicine, and solid organ-specific tracks. 

Acknowledgements

Dr. Maheboob Basade, President of ISMPO, and Dr. Kumar Prabhash, Secretary, expressed gratitude to all participants for contributing to the conference’s success. Dr. SH Advani, Chief Patron of ISMPOCON, praised the efforts of the institution in battling  cancer and encouraged ISMPO to continue its important work.

ISMPOCON 2024 was a major event in India’s oncology landscape. It highlighted the collaboration that happened between Indian and European medical societies.
