A heartbreaking incident has shaken the residents of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. A young nurse from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, who had been reported missing since July 31, was found dead in Bilaspur, Uttar Pradesh, on August 8. Her disappearance and the eventual discovery of her body have uncovered a tragic and horrifying crime.

Nurse Reported Missing on July 31

The victim, a nurse working at a private hospital in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, was last seen on July 30. After finishing her shift, she was captured on CCTV footage returning home. The footage showed her walking in the Dibdiba area of Bilaspur, a small town near Rudrapur. When she did not return home, her family grew concerned. On July 31, her sister filed a missing person report at the local police station in Rudrapur.

Body Found in Bilaspur, Uttar Pradesh

The police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report. They began by tracing her last known movements and collecting CCTV footage from the area. Despite their efforts, days passed with no sign of the nurse. Finally, on August 8, the police made a grim discovery. The nurse’s decomposed body was found in the bushes in Bilaspur, Uttar Pradesh. The post-mortem examination revealed that she had been raped and strangled to death.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The investigation took a significant turn when the police analyzed CCTV footage near the crime scene. They noticed a suspicious man following the nurse on the evening of July 30. This clue led them to Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, but by the time they arrived, the suspect had already fled.

The police expanded their search to neighboring states, including Haryana and Rajasthan. After several days of relentless searching, the suspect, identified as Dharmendra, was finally located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Dharmendra was arrested along with his wife and brought back to Rudrapur for questioning.

Confession and Details of the Crime

During the interrogation, Dharmendra confessed to the horrific crime. He revealed that on the evening of July 30, he saw the nurse walking alone on the road. He decided to take advantage of the situation and followed her. When the nurse resisted his advances, Dharmendra brutally attacked her, slamming her head against the road and eventually strangling her with a scarf. After killing her, he sexually assaulted her and then dumped her body in the bushes. Before fleeing the scene, Dharmendra took the nurse’s mobile phone and Rs 30,000 in cash that she was carrying.

Police Assurances

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manjunath TC confirmed the details of the crime during a press briefing. He assured the public that the accused would face the full force of the law. “The accused is a drug addict and did not know the woman. On the day of the incident, he saw the woman walking alone and decided to target her. Despite her fierce resistance, he overpowered and killed her. He will be held accountable for his actions,” SSP Manjunath said.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning, as they await justice for the young nurse whose life was cut short in such a brutal manner.
