New Delhi: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital celebrated its 71st Founder’s Day with great reverence and enthusiasm, commemorating the enduring legacy of its visionary founder, Sir Ganga Ram ji, whose philanthropic vision laid the foundation for one of the India’s most respected healthcare institutions.
The celebration began in the morning with a garlanding ceremony, where the trustees, management and staff paid rich floral tributes to Sir Ganga Ram ji, remembering his remarkable contribution to society and his commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community. Later in the day, Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. Distinguished doctors, faculty, healthcare professionals, esteemed guests, and members of the media—
It is an honor to join the Founders’ Day celebrations of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, an occasion of both historical and contemporary significance. It offers a moment to reflect on the enduring values that continue to guide this institution.

Sir Ganga Ram was a visionary who combined engineering excellence with a deep commitment to public service and social responsibility. His support during the Gurukabag Morcha, regarded by Mahatma Gandhi as a milestone in India’s freedom struggle, reflects his strong moral leadership. His contributions to infrastructure and irrigation advanced public welfare, while his philanthropic initiatives—schools, homes, and social institutions—continue to impact society through the trust he established.

Today, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital stands as a leading healthcare institution, known for its doctor-led model, high clinical standards, and commitment to accessible care through free and subsidised services. Its self-sustaining approach ensures continuous reinvestment in infrastructure, technology, and patient care.

The hospital also plays a vital role in medical education and research. Institutions like this are critical to strengthening healthcare systems, improving access, and building public trust.

I commend the dedication of doctors, nurses, and staff, and wish the hospital continued success.
