Liver fibrosis is when too much scar tissue forms in your liver. Various things can cause this, such as long-standing liver diseases, viruses, drinking too much alcohol, and certain inherited disorders. The more you know about what causes it, how it’s diagnosed and treated, the better chance you have of managing it and limiting how much it progresses.

Scroll down to know the top signs that your body may show up when you are suffering from Liver Fibrosis.

5 Key Signs of Liver Fibrosis You Should Never Ignore

Liver fibrosis isn’t a light issue – it sabotages the liver’s aptitude to function as it should. Early identification of its symptoms is vital to avert further crises. Don’t dismiss these five core signs of liver fibrosis:

  1. Exhaustion: One of the more prevalent symptoms of liver fibrosis is constant fatigue. The liver is essential for regulating energy, so fibrosis can lead to extreme tiredness and depleted energy.
  2. Swollen Abdomen: Fluid accumulation in the belly, leading to swelling or ascites, is a sign that liver fibrosis may be at play. Distension and discomfort in the abdomen can be telling signs. If you observe unexplained swelling in your abdomen, see your healthcare provider promptly.
  3. Jaundice: A yellow tint in the eyes and skin could indicate liver fibrosis. It arises when the liver struggles to process bilirubin, causing it to pile up in your body. Don’t delay in addressing it as jaundice is a glaring indication of liver malfunctions.
  4. Frequent Bruising: An altered production of clotting factors due to liver fibrosis can result in easy bruising or extended bleeding. If injury isn’t the cause of these changes, especially unexplained bruises or bleeding, it might be a signal of liver fibrosis, necessitating a medical examination.
  5. Constant Itchiness: Persistent skin itchiness is a common issue associated with liver fibrosis. This is the result of bile salts building up due to liver dysfunction, leading to itching. Consult your healthcare provider if you are experiencing persistent itchiness without any obvious cause.
