In the 112th episode of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of the new National Anti-Narcotics Helpline, ‘Manas,’ in combating drug abuse in India. He highlighted the growing concern among families about the danger of drugs and introduced ‘Manas’ as a significant step to address this issue.

PM Modi explained that the government recently launched the ‘Manas’ Helpline and portal, which offers a toll-free number, 1933. This number is available for anyone needing advice, information on rehabilitation, or wishing to share details about drug-related activities. He assured that all information shared will remain confidential.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah officially launched the MANAS (Madak Padarth Nisedh Asuchna Kendra) Portal on July 18. The portal, along with the toll-free number 1933, allows citizens to anonymously seek advice on de-addiction and rehabilitation and report drug trafficking activities. The helpline operates 24/7 and can be accessed via a web portal, a mobile app, and the UMANG app.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the government’s efforts to tackle illegal drug cultivation. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and BISAG-N have developed a web portal and mobile app called “MAPDRUGS.” This app provides accurate GIS information to help agencies identify and destroy illicit drug cultivation.

PM Modi urged families, individuals, and organizations dedicated to making India drug-free to make extensive use of the ‘Manas’ helpline. He stressed the collective responsibility in the fight against drugs, encouraging everyone to participate actively in this crucial mission.
