Days after the Union Health Ministry decided to delay the NEET-PG 2024 exam originally scheduled for June 23, Abhijat Sheth, President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, announced that they are reviewing the exam’s procedures and protocols. He stated that a new exam date will be announced by next week.

Sheth’s comments followed a meeting between officials from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and the Union Health Ministry to assess the situation and gather feedback before postponing the exam.

“The integrity of this exam has never been in question, especially for NEET PG. We have successfully conducted it for the past seven years. Recent concerns surrounding other exams prompted the government to ensure the exam’s sanctity, safety, and security. Therefore, they have decided to review the procedures and protocols promptly. We will announce the new exam date within the next week,” said Abhijat Sheth.

Regarding the advisory about social media messages and fraudsters, he explained, “We issued these guidelines to protect the integrity of the exam. Social media is vast and sometimes conveys misleading messages to students. We want to ensure that students stay on the right path.”

Discussing the meeting with Health Ministry officials, Sheth added, “The focus was on reviewing the processes for the computer-based exam and considering the government’s feedback. Directions were also given to the exam body and Tata Consultancy Services, our technical partner.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Education had formed a committee led by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former ISRO chairman, to recommend reforms in the exam process, enhance data security, and improve the National Testing Agency’s operations. The committee will submit its report to the ministry within two months.
