New Delhi, September 12: On Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry confirmed India’s first Mpox case. As per reports, the patient had visited a Mpox-infected nation recently.

The emergence of the virus in the country has raised significant concerns about the potential spread of this infection within the country. As the virus continues to infiltrate various regions, understanding the availability and effectiveness of vaccines becomes crucial in preventing further transmission and mitigating the impact of the outbreak.

The current global Mpox outbreak, which began in early 2022, has seen a significant increase in cases worldwide. This outbreakcharacterized by a higher proportion of cases occurring among men who have sex with men, although anyone can contract the virus.
