In the wake of the shocking rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, a call for unity has been issued to the entire medical community. On 16th August 2024, at 6:00 PM, healthcare professionals from all over India are invited to participate in a candle march at India Gate, New Delhi. This event is not just a protest but a powerful stand for justice and safety within the healthcare profession.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Delhi Medical Associations (DMA), other healthcare organizations, and private doctors are strongly encouraged to join this critical event. The organizers emphasize that without widespread participation, the momentum needed to bring about real change could be lost.

This march is an urgent response to the violence faced by healthcare workers, highlighted by the recent tragedy in Kolkata. The victim, a dedicated young doctor, lost her life in a brutal attack that has shaken the medical community to its core.

The march aims to honor her memory and to call for stronger measures to protect those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Organizers stress that this is a pivotal moment—one that requires collective action. They urge all healthcare professionals to attend, stating, “To abstain is to abandon our collective call for justice.”

Your presence at this march is vital to ensure that such violence never occurs again. Let us stand together to demand a safer future for all healthcare workers.
