The 28-year-old man, identified as Laxmi Narayan, visited a dental clinic on February 16 for ‘smile designing’ procedure ahead of his wedding. Unfortunately, he passed away during the procedure because of anesthesia overdose.

Smile designing is a kind of a cosmetic dentistry which is done to enhance or beautify one’s smile. It consists of different dental procedures that will help you improve your teeth’s health and appearance.

The National Library of Medicine says that different procedures can help, like dental veneers, implants, teeth whitening, bonding, gum contouring, and filings.

First, you meet with a cosmetic dentist for a chat. You talk about what you want and your concerns. The dentist checks your teeth, gums, and overall mouth health. They might use cool tools like digital imaging to study your smile closely.

After all that, the dentist makes a plan just for you. This plan might include a mix of things to fix tooth color, alignment, gaps, and how your smile looks overall.

If your teeth need straightening, the dentist might suggest braces or clear aligners.

Now, let’s talk about some of the procedures:

Dental Veneers: These are like thin covers for your teeth. They can hide things like stains, chips, or gaps to make your teeth look better.

Gum Contouring: Sometimes, shaping your gums a bit can make your smile look more even and nice.

Dental Bonding: Here, a special material is added to your teeth to fix small problems like chips or gaps. It’s colored to match your teeth.

Dental Crowns: If your teeth are damaged or an odd shape, crowns can help make them strong and look better.

Remember, the goal is to make your smile more balanced and good-looking. The dentist uses different treatments based on what your smile needs.
