Eggs Vs Paneer: Which One Is a Great Source of Protein?

Do you often wonder what’s a better source of protein – eggs or paneer? Both of these ingredients have made a spot for themselves in our daily diets owing to their high protein content, versatility and ease of use in cooking. But have you ever considered which one takes precedence over the other as a protein source?

Paneer Vs Eggs: Which One Contains More Protein?

There’s no denying that eggs are a champ when it comes to being a rich source of protein, offering all nine essential amino acids required by the body. Comparatively, paneer, our beloved Indian cottage cheese, is loaded with both protein and calcium. Despite being higher in fat and calories than eggs, if you’re a vegetarian and needs a protein-filled diet, paneer is your best bet.

Interestingly, eggs edge out just slightly when comparing the protein content per serving. One single large egg delivers roughly 6 grams of protein, whereas a 100-gram serving of paneer serves you around 18 grams of protein. This little secret makes paneer an enticing choice if protein is your main game.

Fats Content In Eggs Vs Paneer

If we focus on fats, eggs pride themselves in being low on fat, with the majority of it residing in the yolk. On the flip side, paneer, being a dairy product, is inherently higher in saturated fats. If you’re watching your waistline, eggs might tip the scales in their favour. However, paneer deserves a chance in your diet if consumed judiciously, ensuring a balanced diet.

Calcium Content

Bring in calcium, and paneer takes the lead, a mineral known for its boon to our bones and muscle functions. Eggs, however, don’t specialize in calcium but bring other power-packed nutrients to the table like vitamins D and B12, and iron. Depending on what your body demands, you can switch between eggs and paneer for these nutritional add-ons.

Bottom Line

For individuals monitoring their cholesterol intake, eggs may raise some concerns due to their LDL content. So, people with heart health problems should consume eggs after consulting their doctor. On the contrary, paneer is a cholesterol-free option, making it a better option for people with cardiovascular concerns.

However you swing it, whether you are team egg or team paneer, they both have a place in your food plan to ensure you get enough protein and maintain a balanced diet.
