Actor Dipika Kakar is facing another significant health challenge just months after undergoing treatment for liver cancer. On Sunday, her husband and actor Shoaib Ibrahim shared that Dipika has now developed a cyst in her stomach and will require hospitalisation for another surgery.

In June 2025, she underwent surgery that resulted in the removal of 22 per cent of her liver. In his latest YouTube vlog, her husband, Ibrahim, shared that doctors recently detected a cyst. She is now slated to undergo another procedure next week to have it removed.

Shoaib explained that the situation unfolded quite suddenly. “Today was another hospital visit. Everything seemed fine until yesterday. She had been having stomach pain for the past two days. Last night, the pain worsened, so we went to the doctor,” he said. Following medical advice, Dipika underwent a CT scan, which detected the cyst. “The scan showed a small cyst of about 1.3 cm. It’s very small, but she has had stomach and shoulder pain for two days, which worried both of us,” he added.

Dipika, however, reassured fans that doctors have clarified the source of her discomfort. “The doctors said the pain on the left side is not because of the cyst,” she shared, adding that the medical team is closely monitoring her condition.

According to Shoaib, the good news is that no major surgery will be required. “There won’t be any major surgery. They will perform a small procedure to burn the cyst. She will need to be admitted for three to four days, and the procedure is scheduled for Tuesday,” he said, sounding cautiously optimistic.

Reflecting on how quickly life can change, Shoaib admitted, “Just yesterday, we were laughing and joking in the vlog, and today we are back at the hospital. But we are thankful to Allah that it was detected at an early stage.”

Dipika candidly spoke about her fear when she first learned about it. “Yes, I was very scared this morning. But I’m grateful we found out in time. That’s why regular follow-ups are so important. Even if there is slight pain, don’t ignore it… see a doctor immediately,” she urged.

Post-Cancer Complications: Why Stomach Cysts Can Appear After Liver Treatment

Post-cancer complications can sometimes emerge even after successful liver cancer treatment. One such concern is the development of stomach cysts. These cysts may appear due to post-surgical changes, inflammation, altered tissue healing, or the body’s response to chemotherapy or radiation. In some cases, routine follow-up scans detect small cystic growths that were previously unnoticed. Most stomach cysts are benign and manageable, but doctors recommend careful evaluation to rule out recurrence or secondary complications. Regular monitoring after liver treatment is crucial, as early detection of any abnormal growth ensures timely intervention and better long-term recovery outcomes for cancer survivors.
