Are Your Kidneys Functioning Properly? 5 Warning Signs of Kidney Damage You Shouldn’t Ignore

Think of your kidneys as your body’s unsung heroes, quietly doing the crucial job of eliminating waste and excess fluids through urine. But what if these essential organs were in trouble? Being aware of signs of kidney damage is key to timely diagnosis and intervention.

Change In Urine Cycles

A clear hint that your kidneys might need help is when you notice a sudden shift in your bathroom habits. You might find yourself urinating more or less than usual, spotting blood in your urine, struggling to urinate, or notice that your urine looks frothy. Any such changes are worth investigating, as they could point to a kidney issue.

Unusual Swelling Across your Body

Unexpected puffiness, often seen in the hands, legs, face or around the eyes could also signify kidney trouble. This swelling, medically known as edema, happens because your kidneys are struggling to get rid of excess fluid from your body, resulting in the fluid’s accumulation.

Tiredness and Weakness

If you’re always feeling beat and weak despite getting enough rest, your kidneys might be sending up a red flag. Poor functioning kidneys let toxins build up in your body, sucking up your energy in the process. Chronic fatigue is a signal you shouldn’t ignore.

Gastrointestinal Issues

Kidney damage doesn’t leave your appetite untouched. You might find yourself feeling nauseous, throwing up often, and losing the will to eat. Accumulated waste in your bloodstream, courtesy of faulty kidneys, could be messing with your digestive system leading to these symptoms.

Back Pain And Discomfort

Persistent kidney issues often bring persistent back pain along. This discomfort is usually concentrated around or on one side of your kidneys, can be dull or sharp, and might even worsen over time. For many, this is a tell-tale sign of kidney damage.

Be wary of the signs and symptoms that kidney damage can show in your body.
