Ajwain also known as carom seeds, is a spice that is frequently used in Indian cooking and traditional medicines. It is derived from the fruits of the Ajwain plant (Trachyspermum Ammi), which is grown throughout Asia and is endemic to the eastern Mediterranean region. The tiny, oval-shaped seeds of ajwain have a very strong flavour and scent. Apart from kitchen uses, it is believed to help with digestion, relieve stomach discomfort and lessen bloating, and gas symptoms.

Let us look at the natural solution for gas and flatulence:

  1. Powdered Ajwain:
Ajwain seeds’ essential oils are preserved and their flavour and scent are enhanced when they are roasted and grinded into a powder.
Ajwain powder is a handy treatment for gas and flatulence because it is simple to combine with warm water and eat.
The powder’s antibacterial qualities may also support a healthy gut microbiota, lowering the likelihood of gas-producing bacteria, while its carminative qualities aid in the expulsion of gas.
  2. Ajwain Paste:

The digestive advantages of both components are combined when ajwain seeds and ginger are mixed into a paste.
Gingerol, found in ginger, relieves gas, lessens nausea, and helps with digestion.
Eating ginger paste and ajwain after meals helps improve digestion, stop gas from forming, and ease flatulence already experienced.

  • Ajwain Buttermilk:

The digestive qualities of ajwain and the probiotic advantages of buttermilk are      combined when ajwain powder or crushed seeds are added.
Ajwain aids with bloating and gas reduction, and buttermilk’s live cultures support gut health and digestion.
Consuming buttermilk laced with ajwain after meals will help maintain digestive health by relieving gas and flatulence.

  • Ajwain Water:

The essential oils and active chemicals, like thymol, which have carminative qualities, are released when ajwain seeds are boiled in water.
After a meal, sipping ajwain water stimulates the breakdown of food by encouraging the secretion of digestive enzymes.
The warmth of ajwain water also aids in the release of trapped gas and relieves bloating and discomfort by relaxing the muscles in the digestive tract.

  • Ajwain with Jaggery:

Chewing ajwain seeds and jaggery together gently can help relieve gas and flatulence after meals.
Digestive enzymes included in jaggery can help reduce stomach acidity and facilitate digestion.
Ajwain and jaggery together improve digestion, lessen gas production, and comfort upset stomachs.

  • Ajwain with Lemon Juice:

Adding lemon juice to ajwain seeds boosts its digestive properties and gives it a fresh taste.
Citric acid, which is found in lemon juice, has the ability to promote the synthesis of digestive enzymes and enhance digestion.
Eating this mixture after meals promotes healthy digestion, reduces the production of gas, and eases bloating.

  • Ajwain Tea:

The therapeutic qualities of ajwain, such as its carminative and anti-inflammatory actions, are extracted when the seeds are brewed into tea.
Regularly consuming ajwain tea helps relieve gas and flatulence, calm the stomach lining, and lessen inflammation.
The warmth of ajwain tea helps to relax the digestive tract, which facilitates gas transit and lessens bloating.

These natural solutions are effective in reducing gas and flatulence but it is necessary to consult with a doctor if the digestive issues still persist after using these solutions.
