The man who passed away has been identified as P Kandasamy, a mason from Namagiripettai in Indira Nagar.

On June 29, he was brought to a private hospital in Rasipuram due to a high fever. Two days later, he was referred to the SGMKMCH.

He had ‘scrub typhus’ fever, according to the government hospital.

The deputy director of health for the Namakkal district, Dr. K. Poonkodi, stated that Kandasamy had himself released from treatment on July 7 before it was finished. On July 11, he was readmitted after his condition deteriorated. But on Friday, he died without showing any signs of improvement from his treatment.

According to the official, Orientia Tsutsugamushi is the parasite that causes scrub typhus fever, and infected mites are the means by which humans contract the illness. “If he had cooperated with doctors, proper treatment could have saved his life,” said Poonkodi.

On Saturday, district health department representatives held a unique medical camp nearby. They screened the residents of 840 households for health issues.

An official from the health department stated, “No fever case was reported until the evening.” She also mentioned that Monday would see another camp just like this one.

The sanitation crew from the Namagiripettai civic body, meanwhile, sprayed disinfectants in water tanks, sump pumps, and overhead tanks and fogged the area.
