Apollo Hospitals, the biggest healthcare provider in India, has introduced a groundbreaking technology called the ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery Platform. This is a huge step forward in treating brain tumors, making Apollo the first in South Asia to adopt this innovative approach. With ZAP-X, the hospital continues its tradition of providing top-notch healthcare solutions globally.

ZAP-X brings a new era in treating brain tumors, offering patients a pain-free alternative with short 30-minute sessions. This technology is precise, exposing patients to minimal radiation, setting new standards in effectiveness and comfort. Unlike traditional methods, ZAP-X uses a special design to accurately focus radiation on tumors, avoiding critical structures like the brain stem and eyes, while minimizing exposure to healthy brain tissue.

This technology’s proven capabilities will benefit patients with various brain conditions, including Primary & Metastatic Brain tumors, Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs), Trigeminal Neuralgias, Movement Disorders like Parkinson’s disease, Epilepsy, and other intracranial lesions. Dr. Prathap Chandra Reddy, the Founder Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, expressed excitement about ZAP-X, emphasizing its non-invasive nature, short treatment duration, and advanced safety protocols. He pledged to make this technology accessible to everyone, aiming to transform how brain tumors are approached and treated.

ZAP-X offers several advantages, being non-invasive, pain-free, and providing frameless, pinpoint accuracy with real-time image guidance. It ensures effective control and relief for various conditions, achieving impressive control rates in 5 and 10 years with minimal side effects. Prof. John R. Adler, Founder and CEO of Zap Surgical, highlighted the significance of ZAP-X, stating that it allows patients to be quickly treated in an outpatient setting without incisions or pain.

Compared to traditional brain surgeries lasting 3-4 hours, ZAP-X completes treatment in a single 30-minute session. This day-care procedure allows patients to return home post-treatment, eliminating the need for prolonged hospitalization and anesthesia. The Apollo Institute of Neurosciences, known for its state-of-the-art facilities and a team of over 300 neurosurgeons and neurologists, has achieved remarkable success in neurosurgeries. Leveraging cutting-edge AI technology, the Institute has redefined stroke protocols, enabling quicker and more accurate diagnosis and treatment.

The ZAP-X platform unveiling reaffirms Apollo’s commitment to spearheading innovations in healthcare. This commitment has resulted in over 180,000 successful neurosurgeries, treating more than 25,000 patients annually with nearly 6,000 brain and spinal surgeries. Apollo’s expertise in managing even the rarest and most complex neurological cases attracts patients from around the world seeking unparalleled care.

In essence, ZAP-X represents a significant leap forward in brain tumor treatment, promising patients a more comfortable and effective alternative to traditional surgeries. Apollo Hospitals’ dedication to innovation and excellence continues to transform lives, reaffirming its position as a leader in healthcare advancements
