This is a known fact to everyone that sleep is essential as nobody can survive or function without it but little do people know that how much of deep and long hour sleep is important to everyday life. Sleeping is a basic human requirement just like daily eating, drinking, and breathing. Sleep is a need and not just a process that needs to be followed every day. a good sleep can help us eat less exercise better and be healthier.

The more deeply you sleep, the more effective your brain performance becomes. In fact, adults need minimum 7 hours of sleep for maximum brain performance but most of the them reject this idea and sleep for lesser hours. Sleep deprivation is a condition that people are still unaware of, this occurs when we do not get enough sleep. Sleeping at the wrong time of the day, not sleeping well, or having a sleep disorder that prevents you from getting enough sleep or causes poor-quality sleep. Sleep deprivation decreases the amount of a factor that protects neurons.

A common myth among adults is that people can still perform exceptionally well even with less sleep. The amount of sleep that we need throughout the life is the same. Lack of sleep is also linked to a higher chance of mental and physical health disturbance in adults, teens, and children. In reality, sleep deficiency is linked to many chronic health problems such as heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression. In older adults, sleep deficiency may be linked to a higher chance of falls and broken bones. The symptoms of sleep deficiency might differ between children and adults. children who are sleep deficient can be overly active and have problems paying attention. They may also show cranky behavior and can find it difficult to easily gel with people.

Many people do not know that sleep deficiency also affects us mentally and people ignore such issues considering them to be one small problem as they are unaware of their hazardous effects. Following are some of the mental issues that people might face due to lack of sleep:

  1. Affects our brain’s functionality: Our brain finds it difficult to concentrate and learn new things. If sleep deprivation continues for a longer period people might also start hallucinating and not be able to differentiate between imagination and reality.
  2. Hinders our memory power: Lack of sleep turns out to be a hurdle in our memory power. During sleep, our brain forms connection that help us process and remember information. A lack of sleep can negatively impact both short and long -term memory.
  3. Mood swings: It also affects our day-to-day mood.  People might feel cranky and irritated throughout the day. This might also make us compromise decision-making processes and creativity.
  4. Psychological risks: Sleep deprivation has psychological risks on people such as impulsive behavior where people might lack control over their behavior, also people can suffer from anxiety, depression, paranoia, and suicidal thoughts.

So, to avoid such mental effects, we need to take deep and on time sleep. Sleep should be considered as one of the important activities of the day.
