Also termed as brain hemorrhage, this is a serious medical emergency that can place a great risk on a person’s overall health. The news about Sadhguru’s scary health issue has stirred an outpouring of concern and support from his countless followers around the globe. Let’s dive into the potential causes of this deadly condition and grasp the severity of such a medical crisis.

What Is Brain Bleed?

Often referred to as a brain hemorrhage, a brain bleed happens when blood starts leaking in or around the cerebrum. This condition is viewed as a medical emergency given that it could lead to serious after-effects, including a stroke, brain damage, or in worst scenarios, death. The causes for a brain bleed extend from elevated blood pressure and irregularities in blood vessels to head injuries or other hidden ailments.

What Causes Brain Bleed?

While precise details about Sadhguru’s situation have been kept private, there are numerous factors that could set up the stage for a brain hemorrhage. For instance:

  • Hypertension, more popularly known as high blood pressure, is a common risk for a brain bleed.
  • Unmanaged diabetes
  • High cholesterol levels

Moreover, health conditions like cerebral aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations, or even blood clotting disorders can pave the way for this medical emergency.

Lifestyle Habits That Can Contribute to Brain Bleed

Apart from existing health issues, the way of life one leads can also play a significant role in the likelihood of a brain bleed. Habits such as

  • Excessive smoking
  • Excessive alcohol intake, and
  • A lack of physical activity

All the above contributing factors can lead to conditions like hypertension which, in turn, raises the likelihood of a brain hemorrhage. Therefore, leading a healthy lifestyle, with regular physical exercise, a well-balanced diet, and stress management techniques can aid in preventing such medical crises.

How Is Sadhguru Now?

In a video posted by the Isha Foundation, Dr Vinit Suri – a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospital, who examined Sadhguru, said that the spiritual leader had been suffering from severe headaches for the last four weeks. “Despite the severity of the pain, he continued with his normal daily schedule and social activities and even conducted the Maha Shivaratri function on March 8. He ignored all the pain and continued with all meetings,” Dr Suri said in the video. The surgery was performed successfully and Sadhguru is now off the ventilator, the doctor said.

“He has done extremely well, much beyond exceptions. He is now back to his normal self and is making steady progress. He is probably healing himself more than what we could do,” Dr Suri said in the video.
