In the past few years, more people are getting different kinds of cancer. Studies show that the number of cancer cases is expected to go up a lot worldwide, especially in places like India. Experts think that in the next few decades, there could be six times more cancer cases than before.

Stress emerges as a notable risk factor in this alarming trend. As society progresses and individuals face mounting pressures, stress has become deeply ingrained in our daily lives, stemming from work pressures, peer expectations and performance stress. These stressors trigger hormonal imbalances within the body and often lead to compromised dietary habits, transitioning from balanced diets to a reliance on fast food. Additionally, concerns arise over the quality of food consumed, with widespread pesticide use in food production exacerbating the issue. Stress also influences lifestyle choices, contributing to increased alcohol and tobacco consumption, further compounding the risk of cancer.

To mitigate the risk of cancer and other diseases, a greater emphasis on mental health is crucial. Mental well-being plays a significant role in overall health, and addressing stress levels is paramount. Importantly, a stressful state of mind can impact treatment outcomes negatively. Seeking support from a psych-oncologist or healthcare professional is essential. Cancer hospitals often have dedicated psych-oncology departments to assist patients in navigating treatment, understanding its benefits and managing potential side effects effectively. It’s imperative to prioritize mental well-being throughout the cancer journey to ensure the best possible outcomes.
