The Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), India’s top drug regulator, has approved tirzepatide, the active component of the company Eli Lilly’s popular medications Mounjaro and Zepbound, by a subject expert committee.

Zepbound is a prescription injectable medication that was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year to combat adult obesity.

Eli Lilly and Company created the drug tirzepatide, which is mostly used to treat type 2 diabetes.

This substance is marketed as Zepbound for weight loss and Mounjaro for diabetes. Tirzepatide, however, will be imported and sold for diabetes rather than weight loss in India.
