Faridabad, December 272025: A 16-kg giant uterine fibroid in a 30-year-old woman at Faridabad.

Aprajita (name changed)30-year-old resident from Delhipresented with a history of two spontaneous pregnancy losses over the last two years. The first occurred at around 6 weeks of gestation, followed by another miscarriage in August 2025. Alongside this, she reported a progressive sensation of abdominal heaviness since 2023 and a sudden, significant increase in abdominal size over the last six months. Notably, she had no urinary, bowel, or pressure-related symptoms, and her menstrual cycles remained regular, delaying early detection.

Diagnostic evaluation at Cloudnine Faridabad revealed the underlying cause. Ultrasonography detected a massive fibroid measuring 30 × 26 cm, and further assessment with MRI of the pelvis confirmed a giant subserosal uterine fibroid measuring approximately 30 × 29.7 cm, consistent with a benign leiomyoma and showing no signs of malignancy.Given the fibroid’s enormous size, rapid growth, and its association with recurrent pregnancy loss, the medical team at Cloudnine Faridabad planned surgical intervention with a strong focus on uterine conservation.

The surgery required extensive preparation, including availability of blood products and advanced surgical equipment. Intraoperatively, surgeons identified a giant fibroid arising from the left broad ligament, densely adherent to the bladder anteriorly and bowel posteriorly. Through meticulous surgical dissection and expertise, the fibroid was successfully enucleated with minimal blood loss, preserving the uterus. The removed mass weighed 16 kg, making it one of the largest fibroids treated at the centre. The patient’s postoperative course was smooth and uneventful, and she was discharged in stable condition, with her reproductive potential intact.

Speaking at the Sidelines of the case, says Dr Laxmi Goel, Director – Department of Fertility at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Faridabad “Women often normalise or ignore symptoms like abdominal heaviness, gradual increase in abdominal size, or even repeated pregnancy loss, attributing them to stress or routine hormonal changes. Unfortunately, conditions such as fibroids can grow silently and reach alarming sizes before being detected. Early consultation and timely imaging can not only prevent complications but also preserve fertility and significantly improve outcomes. The case also highlights the importance of early medical evaluation for persistent abdominal changes and recurrent pregnancy loss, even in young women with otherwise regular menstrual cycles.”

This successful outcome underscores Cloudnine Faridabad’s expertise in managing high-risk and complex gynaecological cases, combining advanced imaging, surgical precision, and a fertility-preserving approach.
