On 22nd June 2024, the Ministry of Education has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to thoroughly investigate allegations of cheating and other irregularities in the NEET (UG) 2024 examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted this exam on 5th May 2024 using the OMR (pen and paper) format.
Several cases have emerged involving accusations of cheating, impersonation, and other forms of misconduct. To ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process, the Ministry of Education decided to involve the CBI in investigating these issues comprehensively.
In addition to this investigation, the Central Government has recently introduced the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. This new law aims to prevent cheating and other unfair practices in public exams and addresses related issues. The government is dedicated to upholding the integrity of exams and safeguarding students’ interests.
The Ministry of Education assures that anyone found guilty of cheating or engaging in other unfair practices will face the strictest consequences. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining the sanctity of examinations and ensuring a fair process for all students.
