Our lifestyle and eating habits have resulted in an increase in bad cholesterol levels in our bodies. Trans-fat and packaged products increase the risk of stroke. On the other hand, there has been a steady decline in our activity time. While few manage to get some time out from their busy schedules for workouts, most of us tend to spend our day sitting at our working desks and not moving much. All this has a negative impact on our health. This has also resulted in higher bad cholesterol levels.

The easiest way to tackle this problem is to choose your meals wisely. Fresh seasonal vegetables can be really helpful in bringing down cholesterol levels. Vegetables are rich in soluble fibre and free of cholesterol. It is a known fact that soluble fibre can slow the absorption of cholesterol and reduce the amount of cholesterol the liver produces.

Seasonal vegetables can help bring down cholesterol levels

Spinach: We all know about the health benefits of green leafy vegetables and spinach is one of the best among them. Spinach is full of essential vitamins and also eliminates bad cholesterol. Adding raw baby spinach salad to your meal can be a good idea.

Broccoli: It is a high-fibre vegetable and rich in calcium and vitamin C. This can be consumed both raw and cooked.

Carrots: They are an excellent source of beta-carotene and are rich in fibre. Carrots help in the prevention of oxidation of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol.

Beetroots: This root vegetable is a great source of fibre. Nitrates present in beetroots help reduce blood pressure by widening the blood vessels. This also helps cut down bad cholesterol.

Cabbage: It is a rich source of fibre and helps in eliminating bad cholesterol.

Bitter gourd: It helps in cutting down cholesterol and sugar levels. Fresh bitter gourd juice can be an excellent way to enhance one’s health.
