A young doctor, named Diksha Tiwari, tragically died after falling from the roof of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College in Kanpur. The incident happened on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, and her family suspects that she was murdered.
Diksha Tiwari, who was from Bareilly, had joined GSVM Medical College back in 2018 and had recently completed her MBBS in March this year. She had just secured a job at Meerut Medical College and was about to start in a few days. On Wednesday, she came to Kanpur and visited GSVM Medical College for some work. Unfortunately, she fell from the college building that night and was severely injured.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central RS Gautam shared that Diksha’s friends immediately took her to the hospital, but she didn’t survive despite attempts to revive her with CPR. “As per preliminary investigation, Diksha fell from the hospital building. Whether it was an accident, suicide, or murder, we will know only after the probe is over,” he said.
According to DCP Gautam, Diksha was sitting on a part of the roof that had a duct covered with a thin layer of cement, which broke under her weight, causing her fall.
Two doctors who were with Diksha at the time of the incident have been taken into custody for questioning. The police will file an FIR if her family lodges a complaint. Meanwhile, Diksha’s body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Diksha, along with her friends who are also doctors, graduated with their MBBS degrees this year. All of them had secured positions as medical officers. On June 13, they met and had a small party at their room in Swaroop Nagar. From there, they went to the fifth floor of the medical college’s examination building, where the tragic incident occurred.
Diksha’s family is devastated and suspects foul play. They believe she was murdered and have demanded a thorough investigation. The police are currently looking into all aspects of the case to determine whether it was an unfortunate accident, suicide, or a murder.
This tragic event has shocked the community, and everyone is eagerly awaiting the results of the investigation to understand what truly happened to Diksha Tiwari.
