Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world with a casualty of around 10 million people each year. Cancer is a disease that not only affects the person suffering from it but is also associated with the patient journey through it. This journey is not only painful physically but is also mentally exhausting.

According to data released by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), only 5-10 per cent of cancer cases are triggered by irregularities in the genetic structure. Around 90-95 per cent of cancer cases upsurge from lifestyle and environmental habits that we follow. Today, as we observe World Cancer Day, let’s follow a few lifestyle tips that you can follow to avoid cancer:

Say No To Tobacco Today!

When we talk about cancer the first thing that comes to our mind is the consumption of tobacco leads to cancer. Hence tobacco and cancer are inseparable. According to reports tobacco is the leading cause and must be avoided at all costs. Smoking or chewing tobacco has severe and adverse effects on the body, with the embodiment being cancer.

Exercise Will Avail

Physical fitness and exercise are the key to a healthy body and a healthy life. Though it may act as a tough task but does not allow any malicious organism to disturb the normal functionality of the body. Exercising regularly helps to maintain the Body Mass Index (BMI) and keeps you away from being overweight too as obesity is a dangerous state of the body that overlays the way for multiple ailments, including cancer.

Start Following A Healthy Diet

Unlike physical activities and exercises, a healthy diet is also a key that is great for your health and body. If you follow a healthy diet, it will help your body to cope and fight the changing hygiene of various environments and keeps you away from diseases. Along with that, there are many foods that have medicinal and anti-carcinogenic properties that may fight cancer-causing cells.

Stop Consuming Processed Meat And Sugary Food

Processed meat, sugary components, and refined carbs foster is responsible for the rise of carcinogenic compounds like food that is low in fibre and high in sugar concentration. It also increases the body fat that in itself acts as a substance for deadly diseases like cancer.

Sun Is Good, But Not Too Much

Even though it is a good habit to bask in sun as it increases the Vitamin D contain in the body.

However, continued exposure to a baking sun might also lead to cancer of the skin. It is the result of the ultraviolet radiation that reduces the skin’s immune function and represses it for the cancerous cells to attack the skin.
