Students Of World College Of Medical Science & Research, Jhajjar Seek President’s Permission For ‘Mercy Killing’

Students of World College of Medical Science & Research, Jhajjar has written a letter to the office of the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Chief Justice of India, Chief Minister of Haryana, and Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking permission to end their own life.

The letter explains the events to convey the intent of their prayer.

As per the letter, these students took admission in World College of Medical Science & Research, Jhajjar, Haryana through the counselling held by the Haryana Government at Pt B D Sharma University, Rohtak.

Students allege that the fact was hidden from them that the college had only conditional permission. After they took admission, the college was ill-equipped and deficient in all departments. Somehow, they passed the first year.

In the second, students found that the college had not even a single students to teach them. They discussed the situation with the management, but the management did nothing about it.

According to the letter, World Medical college has not  passed any MCI inspection till date. Students allege that the college denied MCI and University inspections denied many times.

College didn’t allow MCI and University to enter college and earlier   inspections at time of establishing this college in January 2016 showed  99% deficiencies in the college.

It is clearly written in the Essentiality Certificate issued by the State Government in favour of World Medical College that “if fresh admissions stopped in the college then the students already admitted in the college are the responsibility of the State Government which in our case is Haryana Government.

Students approached every concerned Authorities for this issue(Hon’ble Chief Minister Haryana, Health Minister Haryana, Chief Secretary, Haryana, Additional Chief Secretary- Medical Education, DMER Haryana, District Commissioner- Jhajjar, SDM Jhajjar).

“All of them agreed that our condition is really pathetic and the college is not appropriate for teaching and it should be shutted down and we should be shifted to other colleges but no one is taking a step forward for this process and our condition is really worsening day by day”, says the letter.

Students did every they could, but to no avail. They tried to meet Home Minister of India, did indefinite mass hunger strike.

“When our students got admitted in the Civil Hospital Jhajjar for their critical condition during hunger strike the hospital staff including Doctor on duties, Medical Superintendent, Civil Surgeon Misbehaved with us and our parent”, says the letter.

According to the letter, the college authority even lodged false FIR against students and their parents.

According to the letter, the chairman of World Medical College and his son were booked and charge sheeted by the CBI for bribing the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in order to get approval/permission for admitting students for academic year 2017-2018. As per the letter, the CBI caught Chairman and his son red handed with the mount of Rs 50 lakhs. The case is still pending in the Special CBI Court.

According to the students of the college, Haryana State Govt has issued Essentiality Certificate in favour of World Medical College. According to a clause mentioned therein, as no new batches were admitted in the World Medical College, State Govt was supposed to take responsibility of already admitted students. The state has made proposal of their transfer to other medical colleges but Central Govt and Dr Harshvardhan is yet to act on the request. It has been pending with the Union Home Ministry from December 2019.
