Summer has its charm with all those sunny outdoor adventures, yet it comes with the tricky part – the undesired skin tanning, particularly on the face and neck. But hey, don’t sweat it. We’ve got natural solutions to lighten up those tanned areas in a single day.

What is Skin Tanning?

First, let’s understand a little about skin tanning. It’s not a nuisance, really, but our body’s safe-keep routine when bombarded by sun exposure. Excessive UV rays on the skin signals our body to produce more melanin, hence that darker complexion, or what we call a tan.

What makes us tan more? Well, sun tanning happens when you:

  1. Lounge under the sun a tad too long, especially during peak hours
  2. Have your skin infiltrated by the sun’s harmful UV rays that boost melanin production
  3. Skip on sunscreen or dismiss protective gear, making your skin even more sun-sensitive

How To Get Rid of Skin Tanning?

  1. Lemon Juice: Your very own natural bleacher. Stroke the tanned areas with fresh lemon juice and keep it on for about quarter of an hour, then wash it off with mildly warm water.
  2. Aloe Vera Gel: Known for its healing and calming properties, it’s pretty great against tanning. Spread some aloe vera gel fresh from the plant on the tanned skin and let it sit overnight.
  3. Cucumber Paste: Offering a cooling effect, cucumbers are perfect for sunburns and reducing tanning. Turn some slices into pulp and layer it on the tanned zones for instant relief.
  4. Potato Slices: Potatoes are packed with enzymes that help lighten the skin. Lay potato slices or dab potato juice on tanned spots as a natural adviser.
  5. Yogurt Mask: Yogurt is fantastic for skin brightening. Smear some on, wait about half an hour, and wash it off.

Now, let’s prevent tanning:

  1. Sunscreen is a must: Always smear a good dollop of high SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen before stepping out.
  2. Dress wisely: Keep your skin protected with loose, light-colored clothing.
  3. Hydrate: Drink loads of water for a healthy, hydrated skin.

In essence, skin tanning during summer can be quite normal, but it’s no match for our natural remedies and effective preventive steps. You can easily turn the tanned face and neck around in a day. Just remember, the sun is a friend and a foe; protect your skin against the damaging rays and take good care of it to enjoy a healthy glow all summer long.
