Dr.Prof P N Renjen

When you spend close to four decades in a field, you breathe it, you live it. And it is no different for Dr. (Prof) P N. Renjen, the iconic Neuorologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals.

Currently Senior Consultant Neurologist and Academic Coordinator at the hospital, Dr Renjen is a kind hearted old world Dr. whose tone and attitude towards the patient gets him/her in the mental frame to start recovering. “You have to put the patient at ease and listen to him or her. They have come to you with a lot of trust and you have to honour that trust. So listen patiently and tell them your diagnosis in the gentlest yet realistic way. Doctors should remember patients are not machines,” is the philosophy he lives by.

Unlike the current norm, when doctors consult by the minute, Dr Renjen likes to give time to his patients and listen attentively. “I am not into counting the number of patients. I focus on attending each patient with the love and respect he/she deserves”.

Add to that this, his international experience with a number of fellowships from prestigious institutes and forums of the likes- Royal College of Physicians, Surgeons of Glasgow UK & Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh in the field of neurology and you know, you are in safe hands.

A graduate from Gandhi Medical College, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Dr. (Prof) Renjen did DM Neurology from the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. With 36 years of dedicated service to the field of medicine, he specialises in Cerebro Vascular Diseases, Stroke (Thrombolytic Therapy), Botox Therapy for Post-Stroke Spasticity, Surgical Epilepsy, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Headache.

Neuro rehabilitation for post traumatic brain and spinal injuries and consultation on neurological issues are also areas that he has deep interest in.
A firm believer of early intervention to avoid critical outcomes of stroke, Dr Renjen is well known for his dedication to the profession. Besides consulting his many patients, another area of passion is educating the society about risks, prevention and treatment of stroke and other neurological disorders. Prior to his current assignment, he was associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Central Research Institute of Ayurveda and Shri Ram clinic, New Delhi.

Considered the best neurologist in Delhi, Dr. (Prof) Renjen has played a key role in initiating DNB programs at both Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

Besides focusing on his career as a top notch neuro specialist, Dr. (Prof) Renjen has also been actively involved in teaching, earned numerous accolades, awards and orations from Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Association of Physicians of India at different forums. He is also an active member of different leading academies, associations, institutes and societies across India, UK and USA.
