On June 4, 2024, ten days ahead of schedule and in line with the results of the general election, the National Testing Agency (NTA) unexpectedly announced the NEET UG 2024 results. The announcement of 67 all-India rank 1 holders, which was unprecedented and the lack of transparency surrounding the distribution of grace marks caused this move to be met with criticism. The Congress has decided to stage a nationwide protest on June 21 (Friday) to demand justice for the NEET candidates and to further escalate their protest against the BJP-led NDA government over the alleged irregularities in the NEET.All state presidents and leaders of the Legislature Party have been directed by Congress General Secretary (Organization), K C Venugopal, to organize protests about the NEET issue. Senior officials are urged to take part in these protests in the letter as well.On Tuesday, the Supreme Court mandated that the National Testing Agency (NTA) assume accountability for any oversights in the administration of the NEET UG 2024. Furthermore, it is alleged that the NTA informed the Ministry of Education that, based on a review of their grades, examinees from Patna and Godhra who are being investigated for allegedly benefiting from irregularities do not seem to have had any unusual advantage.Congress Expresses Worries about NEET InconsistenciesCongress leaders expressed grave concerns about purported anomalies in the NEET exam this year in a letter addressing the NEET issue. They brought attention to problems like inflated scores, a secretive process for giving grace marks, and reports of paper leaks and technical difficulties in some testing locations. The party has insisted on a retest and has demanded that these problems be addressed immediately.
