Imran Khan Health Updates: Concerns around Imran’s health have been growing ever since the reports of him losing 85 per cent vision in his right eye surfaced in the public domain. His family and supporters have claimed that they are being denied the right to meet the legendary all-rounder inside the jail. So what exactly happened to his eyes, and why the world wants Pakistan to take this matter seriously? Let’s check his current health status and the condition he is being diagnosed with.

Imran Khan Latest Health Updates

Khan recently told a visiting lawyer that he lost about 85 per cent of vision in the right eye due to alleged lack of health services.

Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi claimed that the former prime minister is under the directives of ‘Asim Law’ and facing irreversible damage to his right eye as a direct consequence. She claimed that Khan has been diagnosed with retinal vein occlusion.”Imran Khan, a global celebrity, a philanthropist, and former prime minister of Pakistan, has endured unimaginable mistreatment in prison under the directives of ‘Asim Law,’ now facing irreversible damage to his right eye as a direct consequence,” Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi said in a post on X, referring to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.

What Is Retinal Vein Occlusion?

Your retina has veins and other blood vessels that carry blood. When a vein in your retina is blocked (occluded), it is called a retinal vein occlusion. This can be caused by a blood clot. Or it can happen when a larger blood vessel presses down on the vein.

When a retinal vein occlusion happens, the blood vessels may become weaker and start to leak, which causes the macula to swell or thicken. This is called macular edema, and it leads to blurry vision or decreased vision.

After an occlusion, abnormal blood vessels can grow in your iris (colored part of your eye). This growth can cause painful pressure in the eye called neovascular (new blood vessels) glaucoma. New blood vessels may also grow in the retina, which can cause bleeding in the back of the eye and retinal detachment.

What causes retinal vein occlusion? It is not known exactly what causes retinal vein occlusion. However, you are more likely to have retinal vein occlusion if you have:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma diseases related to blood vessels (vascular disease)

What are symptoms of retinal vein occlusion?

Symptoms can include:

  • Blurry or reduced vision
  • Floaters in your field of vision and pain inside your eye if new blood vessels grow and cause high eye pressure. It is very important to call an ophthalmologist right away if you have any symptoms.

They will check your eyes thoroughly and talk about treatment options. You may become blind or have permanently reduced vision if you do not have treatment for retinal vein occlusion.

Waqar, who has similarly extolled Imran’s influence on his career, posted shortly after. “Putting politics aside, our national hero who gave us our greatest glory on the sporting field, a cancer hospital [which] helped so many, including my own mother, is suffering a health emergency and requires urgent treatment. I humbly request the related authorities he gets the appropriate treatment in a timely manner. Get well soon skipper.

“Shoaib Akhtar said earlier on Saturday that he had spent the last three months in the USA raising funds for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, which Imran fundraised and built in tribute to his mother who died of cancer. “I’m deeply saddened to hear the news of him losing vision in his eye,” Shoaib said. “I hope he gets the best treatment and I’m wishing him a speedy recovery.”
