India has taken a significant step forward in the fight against emerging health threats with the launch of its first indigenously developed MPox testing solution, the ErbaMDx MonkeyPox RT-PCR Kit. Developed by AMTZ and its partner Transasia Diagnostics Private Limited, both located in the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Vizag city, this new kit marks a major advancement in the country’s healthcare capabilities and preparedness for epidemics.

Rigorous Validation and Approval

The ErbaMDx MonkeyPox RT-PCR Kit has undergone thorough validation by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and has received emergency authorization from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), which operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. These validations highlight the kit’s precision, reliability, and India’s growing expertise in critical health diagnostics.

Innovative Features for Monkeypox Broader Reach

One of the standout features of this kit is its lyophilized (freeze-dried) components. This allows the kit to be shipped and stored at ambient temperatures, making it particularly valuable for areas with limited cold chain infrastructure. As a result, even remote regions can access this crucial diagnostic tool. Additionally, the kit has a 12-month shelf life and boasts zero cross-reactivity with other orthopoxviruses, ensuring exceptional accuracy and dependability.

A Milestone for AMTZ and India

Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founder CEO of AMTZ, expressed the significance of this achievement, stating, “the introduction of the ErbaMDx MonkeyPox RT-PCR Kit represents a significant achievement for both AMTZ and the nation. It exemplifies our commitment to advancing healthcare technology and reinforces our role in safeguarding public health against emerging threats.

As India continues to lead in medical technology advancements, collaborations like the one between AMTZ and Transasia Diagnostics are crucial. These partnerships will drive future progress and help address global health challenges, ensuring that India remains a key player in the global healthcare landscape.
