Metropolis Foundation Launches Upgraded Version of Too Shy to Ask App for Adolescent Health Education

In a bid to promote gender equality, quality education, and good health and well-being, Metropolis Foundation has unveiled an enhanced version of the Too Shy to Ask (TSTA) App. Designed to cater to the educational needs of teenagers, parents, and teachers, the TSTA app serves as India’s sole platform for gender education and reproductive sexual health awareness.

With over 253 million adolescents, India boasts the world’s largest youth population, and the TSTA app aims to address their concerns. Often feeling too shy to approach parents or teachers, adolescents turn to the internet or friends for information, which can be misleading. To combat this, the TSTA app offers accurate and reliable information to empower young individuals and their parents with the right knowledge.

Gender education and reproductive health app now available with enhanced features

The app, originally launched in 2017 by the Women Empowerment Foundation (now Metropolis Foundation), has undergone a significant transformation over the years. Currently, the TSTA app boasts more than 165,000 active users nationwide, and it has successfully answered over 30,000 queries with the assistance of highly qualified medical experts. The content is available in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil, catering to a diverse audience.

Dr. Duru Shah, Chairperson of Metropolis Foundation, expressed her delight about the app’s relaunch, stating, “We are pleased to introduce the TSTA app in a new avatar with exciting and interesting features. The renewed version aims to enhance the user experience by offering seamless navigation, faster load times, and engaging content.”

The overarching goal of the TSTA project is to initiate a multi-year outreach program in schools and NGOs across India, ensuring maximum accessibility to the app. By actively engaging teenagers, parents, and teachers, Metropolis Foundation aims to create awareness and provide support during the crucial adolescent phase.

The app’s impact and contribution to society were recognized in the financial year 2020-21 when Metropolis Healthcare’s Too Shy to Ask received the ‘Health Impact Awareness Campaign’ award and the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 4th CSR Impact Awards and 8th India CSR Award, respectively.

With the upgraded version of the Too Shy to Ask app, Metropolis Foundation continues to play a vital role in promoting adolescent health, offering a reliable source of information, and empowering India’s youth with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions regarding their well-being.
