New Delhi, August 21: Following the recent detection of a new mpox strain in Sweden, Thailand has reported its first suspected case of the same variant. This development raises concerns about the global spread of the virus and the potential for new variants to emerge.
“We were treating the case as if it were the Clade 1 form of Monkeypox, as the person had arrived on August 14 from an African country where it was spreading,”Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn, director-general of the department of disease control, told the media.

Health officials in Thailand have confirmed that a patient has been identified with symptoms consistent with mpox, including fever, rash, and fatigue.
