Giving birth is a natural process for the body and pregnancy and childbirth is one of the most beautiful moments of every women’s life. However, Pain management remains a universal concern for most of the women in the entire nine-month journey. Have we ever thought that the painless labor is possible? Each and every childbirth experience will be unique but yes, pain can be managed and made painless if we learn on confronting the intensity of pain and learn ways of dealing with it more adequately when you’re actually in labor.
The Anesthesiologist team from Cloudnine, India’s premium birthing center in India is ready to set off a car rally connecting the dots from North to South starting from Cloudnine centers in the tricity (Chandigarh & Panchkula) reaching to Noida, Gurgaon, New Delhi leading to Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore, to create awareness on the importance of “Painless Labor Technique or Labor Epidural Analgesia”. The advancement of medical science has brought forth a number of ways in which pain can be reduced and relieved, through both medical and non-medical means.
As a part of the rally, the team of doctors will be creating awareness amongst couples on how to manage pain during labor so that the entire process is as natural as possible. Dr Peeyush Chaudhry, Senior Consultant – Anesthesia from Cloudnine, Noida will be championing the battle for all expecting mothers in India spreading knowledge and understanding about how to make pain during labor painless by starting this rally from the tricity ending in Chennai. This rally will start from 15th November from Chandigarh & Panchkula ending in Chennai on 7th December 2021.
Says Dr Peeyush Chaudhry, Senior Consultant – Anesthesia at Cloudnine Noida, says “Childbirth is hard work, and part of that work is getting through the pain. Pain during labor is described as most severe and is known to cause unwanted changes in maternal and foetal physiology which can be controlled. It’s well known that every woman may have varying tolerance levels of pain, some may have low tolerance for pain in one situation, but a high tolerance in another. Because pain perception is different for everyone, we can now reduce the pain during labor in a variety of ways and make birthing the most natural experience.”
Adding further he says, “In a developing country like India we need awareness amongst couples to explore and discuss with their physicians about labor analgesia options, concerns, and birth experience expectations throughout the prenatal period.”
According to Dr Pawan Kumar, Regional Director (North), Cloudnine says “At Cloudnine, we have been following painless labor techniques since inception of first our birthing center in India and we are excited to launch this campaign today to not just create awareness but educate, inform and spread best practices about painless labor across the country.”
Adding further says Dr Kumar “Pain during delivery is most excruciating and can have impact on future of expecting mothers. However methods to relieve pain of delivery are available which is called as Painless Labor Technique or Labor Epidural Analgesia and this technique is not known to many expecting mothers and couples. There is a need to create awareness amongst all expecting couples that confronting the intensity of pain before you give birth may motivate you to learn ways of dealing with it more adequately when you’re actually in labor.
In a country like India there is a wide gap in the knowledge and desire for labour analgesia. Obstetricians and anesthesia providers have a great role to play in educating the mothers, on the various methods of labour analgesia before the service can be set up. Labour analgesia is a standard of care in obstetrics and so should be provided across all hospitals. In conclusion, very few pregnant mothers know about labour analgesia, but majority would love it.
