CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Thursday informed that his elder son Ashish died of Covid-19 in this morning.
Ashish was going to turn 35 on June 9 and was recovering well at Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital. However, his health suddenly deteriorated, and died at 5.30 am after a two-week battle with the disease.
“It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son, Ashish Yechury to Covid-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him – doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us,” Yechury said on Twitter.

The second wave of Covid-19 is massive and the pandemic has barrelled past grime milestone as the country reported around 3.16 lakh fresh cases on Wednesday, the highest single-day count recorded in any country so far along with 2,102 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Experts say, India’s Covid-19 peak likely between May 11-15 with 33-35 lakh active cases.
The private hospitals to be asked to reserve 80 percent of their beds for government referred to Covid-19 patients and hence, the health emergency is to be declared in Karnataka, says the health minister K Sudhakar.
The current model shows that Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana may see a peak of ‘new’ cases during April 25-30; Odisha, Karnataka and West Bengal during May 1-5 while Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during May 6-10. It shows Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh might already have reached their peak phase now while Bihar will see it around April 25.
