The mysterious death of the Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, leaves the country with a number of questions and uncertainties about many topics which people are unaware of. One of those is the viscera report which is the most talked about topic in the mainstream media today. The forensic team from AIIMS is prepared to handover the viscera report to the Central Bureau Of Investigation next week that they conducted in the Sushant case.
A five-member medical board of forensic experts from AIIMS was formed to look into the autopsy files of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death; therefore they conducted a viscera test to check for any signs of foul play or poisoning.

Dr. J.P Singh, Medical Superintend at Tirath Ran Shah Hospital, Delhi, said, “It is done in a case where there is an unexplained death due to any reason whatsoever. So when you do an autopsy you would send that Viscera to a specialist for further analysis, for looking into the history of the death-like any disease was there or not or else to look into the body to find whether there is any poisoning done or there are any toxicities in the body or not”
So a lot of answers are needed for these theories like what is viscera report and how does it work-
What is the Viscera report?
A viscera report is prepared to determine the cause of death under suspicious circumstances where autopsies are unconvincing. In these tests, the internal organs of the body, explicitly those within the chest, abdomen, or the pelvis are tested thoroughly.
When is the need for Viscera Report?
Viscera tests are generally done in the cases which are under suspects like cases of poisoning and dowry deaths. Even it is done under the cases which don’t have the most crucial clues, or in the criminal cases which leaves no such evidence or the cases which seem like murder but the criminal is successful in leaving no evidence.
How it is prepared
Viscera test samples for any case are collected for chemical examination and have to be done within 15 days of the postmortem. The Forensic Science Laboratories are asked to provide scientific help in any such crime investigation by providing the reports of the blood, semen, stains, and other.
What is Viscera in the human body?
The organs are located in the central cavities that are the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. The main pulmonary, gastrointestinal, genitourinary organs and cardiovascular organ sum up to the viscera. And the ‘viscera’ means ‘viscus’ in Latin which means an organ of the body.
Supreme Court of India on the 21 January 2014 made it compulsory for the investigating agency to do a viscera test in the death cases under suspicion of poisoning or the other cold-blooded deaths in the country.
A study of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has revealed, that viscera examination should be done within a time of six months for the speedy investigation process.
However, AIIMS experts also say that the Viscera test is conducted to follow the formalities as the tissues would have already decomposed and won’t be of much use for any medical investigation.
