The government has decided to ease lockdown restrictions and has already given several relaxations in the fourth phase of the lockdown that started from May 18 and will continue till May 31. Life is gradually limping back to normalcy as a lot of daily activities have started. The government has allowed the opening of markets, shops, and even hospitals.

However, it has advised people to follow social distancing and safety norms while venturing out of the house. Hospitals are considered to be the hotbed of coronavirus infection and this is why a lot of scheduled non-critical surgeries have been postponed. This has jeopardised the lives of people who have been dealing with chronic illnesses and require timely treatment.

However, for a few days, a lot of hospitals have started to welcome non-COVID patients as well. While things are returning to normalcy, it is normal to worry when you have to visit a hospital. There are certain things that you should keep in mind when you are planning to go.

There are some hospitals dedicated only to COVID-19 patients. So it is advisable to identify first whether it is one of them and plan accordingly. Before reaching there, it is better to consult online or telephonically first. If there’s a confirmed appointment, you will not have to wait for long.

Also, pay attention to all the protocols and follow social distancing norms. Social distancing is the only way to curb the spread of coronavirus. Practice good hygiene and keep sanitizers handy. Keep sanitizing your hand when outside and wearing a mask is the most important thing.

If possible, opt for tele-consulting and avoid visiting unless absolutely emergency. Elderlies, pregnant women, and children are in the high-risk category should take the utmost precautions.

When at the hospital, avoid touching shared utilities and wait for your turn. Don’t crowd. Once back from the hospital, remember to properly sanitize yourself again. Remove your clothes and shoes outside and if possible, take a shower before entering the house. If you are using a face mask, dispose it off without touching the outer surface.
