I personally Request to everyone please don’t be scared of Corona but don’t take it lightly. Never try to ignore any symptoms. Please take all required precautions before it’s too late.
My friend Uday was just 29 years old, and had no further medical history. After being tested positive he was admitted in Sola Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad under observation.
Saturday – 6th June was the worst day of my life, I am unable to forget the day. Maybe I forget it for lifetime.
Uday called me at 2.40 AM and told me that he was not feeling well. I also had breathing issues. I had informed my family, and rushed to the hospital to support him. After reaching hospital, I had discussed with so many people for help and had contacted so many hospitals, but they refused to provide an ICU bed. I literally begged for support but all the hospitals responded negatively.
I waited till the morning, and around 6 AM, I was able to meet doctors & the medical staff. They told me that they had checked all the parameters and everything is quite normal. They refused to acknowledge that patient was scared and was suffering more due to anxiety. I tried to communicate with him for the moral support & requested medical staff to cooperate and provide him necessary treatment, but unfortunately all the ICU beds were full. He needed urgent ventilator support.
O2 supply through regulator was not sufficient for him. Doctors tried their best during the day but his health condition did not improve. We contacted so many hospitals, but again no one responded positively. After lots of efforts, ventilator was arranged by the medical team at around 5 PM. But it was too late and we lost him within an hour.
Had we got the ICU bed during the mid night or in the early morning then surely his life could have been saved.
I consider it as our bad luck but worst healthcare system is also responsible for his death. I can’t believe that not a single hospital single hospital has ICU bed when the nation is facing its worst ever health crisis.
Gujarat Govt. should provide the real time hospital wise Covid bed availability (ICU & Non ICU) through live dash board to stop commercialising the healthcare system. So no one can hide the facts & It can be helpful for the critical patients & family.
He will be always missed & remained in my heart. May his soul rest in peace.
