Border Security Force (BSF) of India currently stands as the world’s largest border guarding force with 186 battalions and 2.57 lakh personnel including an expanding air wing, marine wing, artillery regiments, and commando units.
It is carrying out the responsibility of guarding the country’s international borders with full responsibility and dedication.
In order to take advantage of the present conditions, infiltrators are trying to devise new methods to cross the border. The recent encounter of the security forces with the militants in Kashmir gives us enough indications what is going on across the border. Even under such difficult circumstances, this force is steadfastly discharging its obligations to the defense of the nation.
Realizing the problems and needs of the local people, BSF has been providing all possible helps to the needy in a planned manner for the past several days.
It is performing the tasks of distribution of food items, potable water, fruits and vegetables, etc. in the border areas. It has also launched awareness campaigns. Through its various efforts, it has helped lakhs of people living in the various border states of the country including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, West Bengal, Meghalaya and various states of West and Northeast.
Here are some of the details of some of the efforts made by the force in the border areas:
Kolkata, Tagore Villa, 7 April: 27 Due to complete ban on the movement of transports, many drivers are stranded here. BSF is distributing foods and other essential items to these people.
Meghalaya: The potable water crisis has deepened in the border villages of East Jaintia Hill during the lockdown. Taking initiative in this direction, potable water was distributed to the people by 97 battalions of the force.
Hazaribagh, Jharkhand: Masks and sanitizers were distributed to the local people of the area by the Training Institute of Hazaribagh of Border Security Force.
Kohima, Nagaland: Due to the halt of movement of trains, a special drive was carried out by the in the border villages ‘Jakhama’ and ‘Kijocha’ by the 93 battalion of the force. Under this drive, free ration was distributed to the people.
Jammu -BSF launched a special campaign to help the common people in the border areas of Samba. Necessary instructions were given to the people by the BSF also taken care of the ration needs of poor destitute people.
Assam-BSF launched a special operation in the villages bordering the international border of the district Cooch Behar, in which free ration was distributed to poor destitute people and families without employment.
