An increase of 1007 new cases and 23 new deaths has been reported since yesterday, with a total of 13,387 confirmed cases for COVID-19 in the country. As many as 1749 persons have been cured/discharged after recovery. Before the lockdown, India’s doubling rate was about 3 days. For the past seven days, the doubling rate is 6.2 days. a total of 1919 facilities having 1,73,746 isolation beds and total ICU beds 21,806 are available.
GoM reviews current status, and actions for management of COVID-19: The Group of Ministers had detailed deliberation on containment and management of COVID-19. The GoM also discussed the actions taken so far, current status of social distancing measures as a preventive strategy and the stringent actions taken by the Centre as well as the States to contain the spread of COVID-19. Several other measures about strengthening capacity of states including devoting adequate resources for creating dedicated COVID-19 hospitals, equipping the medical institutes with PPEs, ventilators and other essential equipment etc., were also discussed in details.
Governor, Reserve Bank of India ShriShaktikanta Das today announced a set of nine measures to revive the struggling domestic economy. This follows the earlier set of measures announced by RBI on March 27, 2020. The RBI Governor said that the additional measures are aimed to maintain adequate liquidity in the system and its constituents in the face of COVID-19 related dislocations, facilitate and incentivize bank credit flows, ease financial stress, and enable the normal functioning of markets. The Governor said that the central bank will use all its instruments to address the daunting challenges posed by the epidemic.
Government of India has been giving a great deal of importance to the welfare of migrant labourers and stranded persons during the implementation of lock down measures for containment of COVID-19 in the country.Cabinet Secretary has written to all States/UTs to ensure effective implementation of detailed guidelines issued by MHA for ensuring safety, shelter and food security of migrant labourers.The Communication urges States to direct all District Collectors to immediately undertake a review of the situation.
More than 1.51 Crore free LPG cylinders have been distributed so far to the PMUY beneficiaries under the PradhanMantriGaribKalyanYojana in this month. Under the PMKGY, several relief measures have been announced by the central Government for the welfare of poor, and one of the important component of the Yojana is to provide 3 LPG cylinders (14.2 kg) free to over 8 crore beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) over the period of April to June 2020.
Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, ShriNarendra Singh Tomar launched a farmer friendly mobile application today, developed by the National Informatics Centre, to facilitate farmers & traders in searching transport vehicles for Primary and Secondary transportation for movement of Agriculture & Horticulture produce. Primary transportation would include movement from Farm to Mandis, FPO Collection Centre and Warehouses etc. Secondary Transportation would include movement from Mandis to Intra-state & Inter-state mandis, Processing units, Railway station, Warehouses and Wholesalers etc.
