Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Organizes ‘Childhood Heart Diseases Awareness Walk’ on World Heart Day

New Delhi, 28 September 2025: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH), in association with the Cardiology Chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), IAP Delhi, and Diya India Foundation. Successfully organized the Childhood Heart Diseases Awareness Walk on 28th September 2025, marking World Heart Day. The initiative brought together families, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community members to spotlight pediatric heart health and emphasize the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and ongoing family support.

The awareness walk, themed “A Step Toward Hope and Resilience,” commenced from Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri and passed through Vinay Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Niti Marg, and Satya Marg before returning to Vinay Marg. The event was attended by patients, parents, clinicians, students, and well-wishers, amplified further through social media and local media outreach.

● Information booths on early detection. treatment options, and post-surgical care

The event was graced by eminent pediatric cardiologists and surgeons from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and leading members of IAP.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal, Pediatric Cardiologist, Department of Pediatric Cardiac Sciences, SGRH, and Secretary. Cardiology Chapter of IAP, said: “This walk is more than a stroll. It’s a united statement that children with heart conditions can lead full. Hopeful lives with the right care and support.”

Dr. Pankaj Garg, President, IAP Delhi, emphasized: “Heart disease patients have good outcomes due to advancements in technology. But early diagnosis is critical. Training budding pediatricians in congenital heart disease detection is vital for the future.”

Dr. Raja Joshi, Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, SGRH, said: “World Heart Day offers a powerful reminder that early detection and family-centred care save lives. Our community’s participation demonstrates the strength we have when we come together.”

Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, President, Cardiology Chapter of IAP, noted: “Childhood heart diseases are curable. And parents must guided to specialists for timely support.”
