CPR Awareness Week at AIIMS

CPR Awareness

This CPR Awareness Week, AIIMS is conducting multiple programs to train students, laypersons, and paramilitary forces in the life-saving skill of providing CPR at its SET Facility.

We are focusing on a “Train the Trainer” model so that there is a domino effect — enabling these trained individuals to further educate others in their organizations and communities, ultimately leading to a CPR-aware society.

Under the guidance of Dr. M. Sreenivas, AIIMS undertaken a major initiative to ensure that all medical and non-medical staff trained in the art of CPR.

The SET Facility has already trained almost 10,000 staff members in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR. More than 5000 newly inducted nurses. As well as those already in service, Are regularly trained to keep their life-support skills up to date and proficient. The staff include laboratory and operation theatre technicians, ward boys, and security personnel.

The aim is for these individuals to not only provide CPR assistance within the campus—often visited by critically ill patients—but also to serve as ambassadors of AIIMS within their communities, capable of offering life-saving basic life support to family, friends, and neighbors in times of need.

Providing early CPR known to improve chances of survival two to three times. Making timely intervention before emergency medical services arrive absolutely crucial in mitigating the rising burden of sudden cardiac arrests and deaths in society.

A proposal to install Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at key locations across AIIMS in progress and will soon implemented. Early defibrillation, along with CPR, can be a game changer in saving lives.

Through these initiatives, AIIMS aims to create an ideal, CPR Awareness-ready campus — one that is safe for its patients, personnel, and visitors alike.
