India’s leading Pharma Company in the oral healthcare segment – ICPA Health Products Ltd (ICPA), hosted an interactive online session for the benefit of beginners in the field of dental practice. In the eighth episode in the ICPA Clinical Series held on 28 Jan 2022, Dr Amol Thorat, MDS (Prosthodontics) was the guest speaker and focused on addressing the top three challenges dentists face in full mouth implant rehabilitation.
The session highlighted some essential and critical components of implant rehabilitation, including prosthetic treatment planning, diagnostic wax-up, and trial dentures. Dr Thorat also stressed the importance of following the canine-molar rule and the concept of a five-sided arch in deciding the number and position of implants, among other recommendations.

The next episode of ICPA Clinical Series is scheduled for 24 Feb 2022, with Dr Sandeep Singh speaking on making use of ‘dentin autografts in implantology’.Among other suggestions on some of the essential aspects of full mouth implant rehabilitation, Dr Amol Thorat advised dentists to avoid minimum implants in the hope of making the process economical.
Instead, he recommended considering the factors that would warrant the need for six to eight implants per arch. Dr Thorat also strongly recommended opting for a sufficient number of implants with good primary stability for allowing immediate provisional restorations. He emphasized not having a bias for any treatment concept. All on 4/6/8, screw-retained, cement-retained basal implants have a place in implantology, and knowing which one to choose in a particular clinical scenario is the key to long-term success.

Themed’ Each Episode-One Clinical Challenge,’ the series is moderated by ICPA’s Technical Head of Marketing – Dr Rajeev Chitguppi.
