Second Phase Of Covid Vaccination To Be Rolled Out In Haryana Today

Second phase of the COVID-19 vaccine will be rolled out on Wednesday in Haryana, and during the campaign, frontline staff will get the jab.

The registration of all such employees will be completed on the CoWIN portal by Sunday in order to ensure their smooth implementation of the drive, it said.

“Haryana is all set to start the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out from February 3, after the successful implementation of its first phase,” an official statement said.

More Than 1,10,000 Frontline Workers Have Been Registered For The Second Phase

Prabhjot Singh, Director of Haryana National Health Mission, said the frontline workers include police officers, Revenue Department, Panchayati raj institutions, jail, home guard, and department of urban local bodies.

“So far, about 1,10,000 frontline workers have been registered for the second phase on the portal,” he said.

Mr Singh said the Centre had received 7.23 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine and there were sufficient cold storage chains for vaccine storage in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rajeev Arora said Haryana was one of the top three states in the country to successfully introduce the first phase of the rollout of the vaccine.

The state has administered vaccines to about 1,28,526 healthcare workers till Tuesday and such workers who were unable to get themselves vaccinated in the first phase can do so by February 15, the statement said.

On January 16, in Haryana, the first phase of vaccination against COVID-19 started with many health staff, the key warriors in the fight against the pandemic, having the shots during the push.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan in Chandigarh on Tuesday, ahead of the second phase of the vaccination campaign.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissars, District Deputy Commissars, Police Superintendents, Jail Superintendents, District Creation and Panchayat Officers, Municipal Commissars, Home Guards, Medical College Supervisors, and Chief Medical Officers.
