Manish Sisodia’s Health Improves, To Be Shifted From ICU To Normal Ward

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is under treatment for the coronavirus disease and dengue, is now showing improvement in his health, a report said on Saturday.

He is likely to be shifted to a normal ward from the intensive care unit (ICU) of private Max Hospital in Saket.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was diagnosed with dengue on Thursday, a day after he was hospitalized due to COVID-19. Initially, he was admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital on Wednesday from being under home-isolation after he had contracted the infection.

He underwent a plasma therapy on Friday after which he started showing signs of improvement in his health condition.

Manish Sisodia had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 14th, and later diagnosed with dengue on Thursday. When his blood platelet count and oxygen level fell suddenly, he was moved to the Max Hospital from government-run LNJP Hospital.

He had announced on his Twitter that he had tested positive for coronavirus and stated, “Had got my COVID-19 test done after I had a mild fever. The report has come positive. I have gone into self-isolation. As of now, I have no fever or any other issue. I am fine. By your blessings, I will recover fully and return to work soon.”

Before getting admitted, Sisodia was under home isolation after testing Covid-19 positive on September 14, but he continued doing his video conferencing meetings from home isolation.

Manish Sisodia is the second minister from Delhi’s cabinet to be tested positive with this deadly virus.

Before him, Delhi’s health minister Satyendra Jain also had tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17 and underwent the plasma therapy in the same private hospital.

Sisodia is perhaps the first prominent personality in the city to have been diagnosed with both Covid-19  and dengue infections.

Medical Superintendent of LNJP Hospital said though there is no scientific evidence to prove that how plasma therapy benefits a patient, still, it has been administered for various ailments for several years.

“In patients, it helps in bringing the oxygen level to the normal value besides other benefits, which aid in recovery. But in some cases, plasma therapy does not work,” he said.
