Amidst the rising cases of Covid-19 in India, India has started facing more issues related to vaccination and RT-PCR reports. Some people are testing negative even after showing classic symptoms. While on the other hand, questions have been raised on the vaccination because people are getting infected even after being vaccinated.
Many people get infected even after getting the second dose of the Covid vaccine. A man from Gujarat took the vaccine in the month of March. However, even after the second does, he got infected. Since then, we have heard more people being infected after the vaccination and questions have been raised on the vaccine’s effectiveness.
“We need to understand that the development of immunity takes time to develop post-vaccination and hence the positivity in cases which are not fully immune. Also, the Vaccine protectiveness is around 70% and hence there is a window to contract the disease even after vaccination. Also, it is too early to know that a different strain might be working in such cases leaving us exposed even after getting a vaccination. It’s best to follow Social distance, and mask to avoid such incidences post-vaccination” said Dr. Rajan Verma, Medical Director, Lab operations, Oncquest Laboratories Ltd.
“The false negativity is well known in cases of Covid RT-PCR kits, there can be multiple reasons for such report such as Sensitivity and specificity of the assay, collection of the sample, viral load in Nasal and Oral sample, inherent suppressant to RNAs” Dr. Rajan Verma stated On the matter of RT-PCR reports.
On the ongoing situation of Covid-19 cases, the Prime Minister reviewed the situation in yesterday’s meeting and he emphasized, that despite the challenges, we have better experience, resources and, also vaccine. People’s involvement along with hard-working doctors and health care staff has contributed a lot in managing the situation and they are still doing so.
The Prime Minister said, “we have to keep focussing on ‘Test, Track, Treat’, Covid appropriate behavior and Covid Management”.
The Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan chaired the meeting on Friday and discussed the current national and international scenario of coronavirus pandemic and strategies that are to be adopted for availability and distribution of vaccines in the coming days. He informed that the latest figures suggest that 9,43,34,262 doses have been given to people in India. In the last 24 hours, we’ve given 36,91,511 doses.
