The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination to healthcare workers and frontline workers crossed 1.34 crores coverage on Friday, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
1.34 crore vaccination doses were reported through 2,78,915 sessions until Day-42 of the vaccination campaign, as per the provisional report released by the Ministry. This includes the first dose for health care staff with 66.21 lakh, the second dose for health workers with 20.32 lakh, and the first dose for frontline workers with 48.18 lakh.
On 13 February, the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination began for those beneficiaries who completed the first dose 28 days after receipt of the first dose and the vaccination of frontline staff.
Less than 60 per cent of registered health care staff have been vaccinated in nine states and Union territories, including Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Telangana, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Nagaland, Punjab, and Puducherry.
Though 13 states have vaccinated less than 40 per cent of registered frontline staff, Chandigarh, Nagaland, Telangana, Mizoram, Punjab, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Assam, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Meghalaya, and Puducherry, the ministry said.
Some eight lakh vaccine doses were issued on Day-41 of the vaccination campaign. Out of which, for the first dose, about four lakh healthcare staff and frontline workers were vaccinated.
India’s successful caseload of COVID-19 is 1.55 lakh, representing 1.41% of the overall positive cases. However, there are less than 1,000 active cases in 21 states and the Union Territories.
