The Kejriwal government on Thursday imposed a weekend curfew in Delhi to contain the spread of coronavirus’ new wave.
It is announced by the government that a weekend curfew will be imposed in the national capital amid a surge in Covid cases.
Addressing the media, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal assured that there is no scarcity of hospitals in Delhi and that measures are being taken to ensure an adequate supply of drugs.
“There is no shortage of beds in hospitals in Delhi. According to the latest data, more than 5000 beds are available,” said CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The government has also taken note of shortages of drugs at hospitals and said that measures will be taken to ensure an adequate supply chain of required drugs for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Arvind Kejriwal further said, “Curfew passes to be issued to those rendering essential services. Malls, gyms, spas and auditoriums to be closed. Cinemas halls to operate at 30% capacity only. People will not be allowed to dine-in restaurants, only home deliveries permitted.”

The government has asked the officials to take strict measures and actions against those who are found breaking the Covid-19 protocols. The government has ordered the malls, spas auditorium and gyms to be closed and the overcrowded public places must be checked.
The decision was taken during a meeting presided over by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the proposal to impose a complete lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays.
India’s daily tally of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) breached the 200,000-mark on Thursday with 200,739 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
More than 1,000 deaths were reported for a second consecutive day, according to the data from the Union health ministry’s dashboard. The country’s caseload has now climbed to 14,074,564 including 1,471,877 active cases, 12,429,564 discharges and 173,123 deaths, the data showed.
