Cashless Treatment Facilities Expanded for CGHS Beneficiaries at 6 AIIMS Centers

Easing Reimbursement Process for CGHS Pensioners

CGHS Pensioners and Entitled Categories to Avail Cashless Treatment in OPD, Investigations, and Indoor Care

In a significant development, cashless treatment facilities will now be accessible to all beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) at six All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) centers. The memorandum of agreement was signed between the six AIIMS and CGHS, Union Health Ministry, with the presence of Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary.

Under this initiative, CGHS beneficiaries, including pensioners, will have the advantage of receiving cashless treatment in outpatient departments (OPD), investigations, and indoor care at AIIMS centers in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, and Rishikesh. This move aims to provide state-of-the-art treatment facilities to senior citizens and retired pensioner beneficiaries without the need for reimbursement claims and follow-up approvals.

AIIMS Centers to Establish Help Desks and Separate Accounting Systems for CGHS Beneficiaries

The salient features of this initiative include eligibility for cashless treatment in OPD, investigations, and indoor care for CGHS pensioners and other entitled categories. AIIMS centers will raise credit bills to CGHS, and payment will preferably be made within 30 days. Valid CGHS beneficiary ID cards will be required for admission, and separate help desks and accounting systems will be established for CGHS beneficiaries.

Plans to Extend Cashless Treatment Facilities to AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and GIPMER Puducherry Underway

Medications prescribed by AIIMS doctors will be collected by beneficiaries through CGHS. This milestone decision is expected to save time, reduce paperwork, and eliminate delays in claim settlements. Furthermore, plans are underway to extend cashless treatment facilities to AIIMS centers in New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and GIPMER Puducherry.

The expansion of cashless treatment facilities is a welcome step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility for CGHS beneficiaries across the nation. The government’s commitment to expanding the number of hospitals empaneled under CGHS aims to cater to the rising healthcare requirements of patients. The agreement with AIIMS institutions in New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry is expected to be incorporated in the near future, further widening the reach of CGHS services.
