Protect Your Eyes This Summer: Common Ocular Conditions to Watch Out For

New Delhi, 30 April 2025: Residents of the national capital experienced a welcome respite today as strong surface winds swept through the city, leading to a significant improvement in air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 193 at 8:00 AM, marking a notable decrease from 238 recorded at the same time the previous day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius for today. Delhi residents can expect a partly cloudy sky, with occasional sustained surface winds. No heatwave warning has been issued for the day.

Delhi Weather Updates: IMD Predicts Rainfall- Thunderstorms

Delhi has been reeling from intense heat over the past few days, with temperatures touching as high as 42 degrees Celsius. However, the national capital may soon get relief, with rain likely in the coming days. Light rainfall is also expected in some regions of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the city experienced hazy sunshine with temperatures reaching up to 37°C (99°F). The strong winds, blowing at speeds of 20-30 km/h, not only improved air quality but also provided some relief from the prevailing heat.

Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts that the weather will remain warm with temperatures hovering around 36-37°C over the next few days. While no significant rainfall is expected, the continuation of strong winds may help maintain the improved air quality levels.

Delhi Air Quality Improvement Data

The improvement in AQI from the ‘poor’ to ‘moderate’ category is a positive development for Delhi, which has been grappling with high pollution levels. The CPCB classifies AQI values between 101 and 200 as ‘moderate’, indicating acceptable air quality for most individuals.

Experts attribute this improvement to the strong winds that have dispersed pollutants and enhanced ventilation in the region. Such meteorological conditions are crucial in mitigating the accumulation of pollutants, especially during the warmer months when air stagnation can exacerbate pollution levels.

Despite the improvement, residents are advised to remain cautious. Individuals with respiratory conditions, children, and the elderly should continue to monitor air quality levels and limit prolonged outdoor exposure when AQI levels rise. Staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours is also recommended.

The current weather patterns have provided a much-needed reprieve from the high pollution levels that have plagued Delhi in recent weeks. Continued monitoring and adherence to health advisories will be essential in ensuring public well-being as the city navigates through the summer months.
